During the 12 days of All Women Documentary Filmmaking Workshop, you will be guided by our Eight mentors who have been setting example in short films and documentary filmmaking avenue of Nepal.
You will learn from the EIGHT industry leaders to learn the standard practice of documentary filmmaking and accompanied by FOUR project mentors who will guide you throughout your filmmaking journey during the workshop.
Which means, you will not just learn how documentaries are made, but also MAKE documentaries yourself.
Here is the brief introduction of our Mentors:
Rajeela Shrestha
Rajeela Shrestha is a filmmaker based in Kathmandu. She believes that visual storytelling helps people understand the complexities of the world a bit better. She has been actively involved in filmmaking since 2014 and is currently developing her first feature documentary. She is a 2023 Global Media Makers fellow at Film Independent.
Rajan Kathet
Rajan Kathet is a filmmaker based in Kathmandu working in both fiction and documentary films. He is an alumnus of the European Masters DOCNOMADS program (2014-2016), Berlinale Talents (2017), and the Global Media Makers LA Residency (2021/22). Rajan’s first feature documentary, “No Winter Holidays,” premiered in the International First Feature Competition section of Sheffield DocFest 2023 and is the winner of the NATIVA Award at Alternativa Film Awards 2023 in Kazakhstan.His short fiction film, “Bare Trees In The Mist (2019),” premiered at numerous prestigious film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Tampere FF, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, Encounters Film Festival (UK), HKIFF, among a dozen others.

नवनिधि दाहाल
२०४६ सालमा खोटाङमा जन्मिएका नवनिधि दाहालले २०७१ सालमा सिनेमा अध्ययनमा स्नातक गरेका हुन् । अस्कर अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय कलेजबाट पटकथा लेखन तथा निर्देशन विशिष्टीकरण दिक्षित भएका उनले निर्माताको रूपमा विशेषत: केहि छोटा सिनेमाहरू जस्तै मनोजबाबु पन्तको ‘अवशेष’ (२०७५), सुनिल पाण्डेको ‘बाघथान’ (२०७८), निरञ्जनराज भेटवालको ‘साक्षी-रूख’ (२०८०)मा काम गरेका छन् । नेपाली सिनेमाहरूको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सिनेमा महोत्सवको यात्रामा दाहाल केहि वर्षदेखि सेतुको रूपमा काम गरिरहेका छन् ।
Sunir Pandey
Sunir Pandey is a former journalist and director/producer of the film Dhorpatan (English title: No Winter Holidays). premiered in the International First Feature Competition section of Sheffield DocFest 2023 and is the winner of the NATIVA Award at Alternativa Film Awards 2023 in Kazakhstan.

Shuvangi Khadka
SHUVANGI KHADKA is an independent writer and filmmaker based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her second short documentary, Age of Learning, won awards at 18th Tasveer Film Festival, 11th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival and 7th Pame Film Festival. She is also one of the Editors of The Pomelo, an eMagazine exploring Himalayan voices.
Babin Dulal
Babin Dulal, a seasoned cinematographer from Nepal, weaves visual tales capturing every moment’s essence. With a bachelor’s degree in filmmaking and over 8 years of experience, he showcases a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling. His dedication and artistic vision make him a true master of his craft, leaving a lasting impact on screens and in hearts alike. Notably, “No Winter Holidays” and “The Porter: The Untold Story at Everest” stand as testaments to his unique perspective and unrivaled talent.

Sudil Dhital
Sudil Dhital is a sound designer from Kathmandu, Nepal, responsible for creating captivating sounds that bring films to life. He has experience working both in the studio and on the field, contributing to various films, short films, and documentaries in roles such as Production Sound Mixer, Foley Artist, Boom Operator, Sound Designer and Sound Mixer. Sudil has collaborated with some of the best sound designers in Nepal on notable projects like “Basanji,” “Junko,” “Yet Another Winter,” and “Kara.” He strongly believes in teamwork, recognizing that a good team can make anything possible.
Kiran Shrestha
Kiran is a self-taught, independent, and promising filmmaker from Nepal, who has now turned into a writer and director as well. He has worked in various indie films as a Film Editor and Assistant Director; which has been successful to travel to many prestigious festivals like Berlinale, Venice, Toronto, Busan, and many others. He is also an Alumnus of Busan AFA (2018) and Berlinale Talents (2019). “Yet Another Winter” is his short directorial debut.
Kiran Shrestha is best known for his work in Ainaa Jhyal Ko Putali (2020) and No Winter Holidays (2023).

Project Mentors
Learn about the project mentors who will accompany you through your journey of making documentary film during the workshop. They will be your friend, guide, and mentor while you are applying your creativity, knowledge, intuition, and guts while making a film.
Sapana Belbase
Sapana Belbase, an aspiring cinematographer from Oscar International College, has participated in two documentary workshops organized by Kipalaya Productions. She is actively engaged as a cinematographer in various projects, some of which have been featured in film festivals. Currently, she continues to work on freelancing projects.
Angela Chaudhary
Angela Chaudhary is an aspiring filmmaker who is majoring in cinematography from Nepal Film Campus. Her profession is Video editing and she loves art and fiction that can come together to tell a great visual story. She is enthusiastically engaged as an editor and cinematographer in several projects that have also won International Human Right award and also featured in film festivals.
